The Reidsville Family YMCA traditionally offers over 40 group exercise classes a week with a wide variety of all levels to suit individual needs. Please see the links to schedules and class descriptions below. These classes are free to all Reidsville Y members, with the exception of those noted. If you have any questions regarding any of the Group Exercise classes, please do not hesitate to contact the front desk.
Participants must be at least 14 years old to participate in any of the aerobic, yoga, or cycle classes. Teen certification is held monthly at the Y. This class is free but requires pre-registration at the front desk.
SPECIAL EXERCISE CLASSES
COUCH TO 5K AT THE REIDSVILLE Y
The Couch to 5k program is an 8-week long training program designed to prepare you for the Turkey Trot race! The Turkey Trot is a 5K (3.1 mile) race held every year right here, starting at the Reidsville YMCA on November 8th, 2014!
This program is geared toward beginner runners, but everyone is welcome! We will have scheduled group runs multiple times each week; as well as informational sessions that will keep you motivated and engaged through race day! Sign up at the front desk! INTENSITY HIGH INTENSE TRAINING
Predesigned format of high intensity anaerobic interval training with athletic drills and modifications to accomodate various fitness levels. Please click on the link below for more details!
30 DAY FITNESS CHALLENGE
The 30 Day Fitness Challenge is a year-long program with the focus of providing you with your daily dose of exercise, so you can reach your fitness goals this year! Each month there will be posted an exercise of the month. For example: January-Squats, February-Planks, etc. Sign up at the front desk during the month and complete the selected exercise for that day…and everyday. At the end of the year the top 3 participating members will received a 12, 6, or 3 month membership! Are you ready to take the challenge? Please click on the link below for more details!
TAE KWON DO
The Y also has Tae Kwon Do classes available for both children (ages 5 and up) and adult. Henry Davidson, from the Kim School of Tae Kwon Do, is the instructor. Henry is a 4th Degree Black Belt who has been certified as an International Grandmaster. Classes include basics and forms, self defense, and kicking and sparring.
Classes are offered on Monday and Thursday nights from 6:30 pm until 8:00.
